Brief Biographies

Ben Eastop is an independent art consultant specialising in commissioning and curating contemporary art in varied contexts beyond the gallery, working collaboratively with artists and other partners. Whilst often engaging in the processes of architecture, urban design and other disciplines, he is working on a long-term enquiry into the social and political significance of the landscape and place mediated and interpreted through art. He is based in London

Anshuman Dasgupta (Lecturer, and PHd at Goldsmiths, in curatorial knowledge)
Dept. of Art History, Kala Bhavana, Visva Bharati, Santiniketan, West Bengal

Born in Calcutta in 1967, pursued his Bachelors and Masters in Art History from Santiniketan and Baroda, respectively. His theoretical interests cover areas like cinema and visual culture.
He has many published essays on contemporary art, in Indian and foreign publications including Marg, MuHKa, de Appel, Lalit Kala Contemporary etc.

After teaching at various institutes like IIT and NID and NSD, he had been teaching in Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan, since 1997. He has been a part of International curatorial conferences like the Berlin Biennial, 2006. He was part of Khoj Kolkata, 2006 international workshop and seminar. He organised the Ramkinker Baij International seminar and exhibition in 2007, in Santiniketan. He has also curated several shows in India and abroad, including The Santhal Family at MuHKA in Antwerp.

Dr Rakhee Kalita
Senior Lecturer, English, Cotton College (degree and masters)
Dr Rakhee Kalita teaches English Literature at Cotton College, Guwahati. Her  interests are Cultural Studies and she has published on the northeast and its politics of identity. She is currently studying conflict in the region and finds literary texts emerging out of the northeast a particularly rich and alternative source of understanding the contemporary culture of social and political unrest.
